IMPORTANT UPDATE
Please note, we have updated service hours for this year. I have attached the new form and requirements page. Students will be able to earn up to 5 hours during the summer to use toward any trimesters (can be split). Those hours MUST be done at the organizations listed below, each of which have strict requirements (i.e. must be on SignUp Genius, applications, calling ahead to schedule, orientation, etc).
Requirements
- 10 service hours are required each trimester
- Hours may not be carried over between trimesters
- Up to 5 hours may be earned over the summer. They may be applied to any trimester.
Summer hours must be earned at one of the following organizations with stipulations:
- American Cancer Society Thrift Store (MUST be on SignUp Genius)
- Knights of Columbus Recycling (MUST be on SignUp Genius)
- Variety Children’s Charity of the Desert – (MUST be on SignUp Genius)

Meaning, if you do not show to a 2-hour window, 2 hours will be added to the required 9, making your requirement now 11.

ONLY 2 TIMES PER TRIMSTER
From Mr. Yip - The only thing I ask is that if you cannot make it, please find someone else to take your spot as this is self organized and we want to make sure that we have 15 students showing up each month. 2.5 service hours will be given for each event.
The Narrow Door's mission is to identify and impact issues within the Coachella Valley by connecting people to God and a supporting community. We do this by providing free public assistance that calls for immediate action in the areas of hunger relief, homelessness, clothing, hygiene and discipleship programs. For more information on the Narrow Door, visit https://www.thenarrowdoor.org
The 3rd Saturday of every month during the school year, we have partnered with the Narrow Door to help box food for those in need. We may even walk next door to distribute the food so that the students can see/feel the impact they are making to the community.
Students must wear SHS volunteer shirt and appropriate free-dress bottoms and close-toes shoes.
